samsung galaxy tab 10.1

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet next month. But at launch the company will only offer the WiFi version of the tablet. There’s no word on a 3G model, but the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Samsung will launch a 4G capable model later this year.

There’s no word on the price or launch date for the 4G model, but it looks like Samsung may be going with 4G LTE rather than 4G WiMAX, which makes a Verizon tablet a likely rather than a Sprint tablet. That said, Samsung has a track record of working with all the major US wireless carriers. The company’s smartphones and the 7 inch Galaxy Tab which launched last year are available from every major carrier in the States, so maybe we shouldn’t read too much into the fact that the Wall Street Journal article simply doesn’t mention WiMAX by name.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and Google Android 3.1. Ite measures just 0.34 inches thick and has front and rear-facing cameras.
