Samsung NC10 at Buy.com

Samsung NC10-14GW Netbook Intel Atom 1.6GHz, 1GB, 160GB HD, 10.2 Widescreen WSVGA, 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth, Windows XP Home (White)

The Samsung NC10 has been available in parts of Europe and Asia for a few weeks now, but the netbook is just starting to ship in the US. Online retailer Buy.com has the computer in stock for $499 and says it ships in just 1-2 business days.

Other retailers, including Amazon are still taking pre-orders, but if you’re willing to wait a bit longer, Update: Amazon now has the NC10 in stock for $488. My guess is we’ll start to see the Samsung NC10 show up on a number of online stores over the next few weeks. No word on whether it’ll make an appearance at bricks and mortar locations in the US.

You can read more about the Samsung NC10 netbook in the Liliputing Product Database.

  1. Ordered one on ebay for $499.99. But I got a 25% cash back so that’ll cut it to $375.
Was deciding between NC10 or EEE 1000HA but all reviews point toward NC10 for its amazing battery life and keyboard design. So decided to go with it.

$375 for NC10. Who could resist?

  2. Okay, Amazon has the Acer Aspire One for $399 with a 6 cell, and the 3 cell version for $349. So it seems to me an extra 3 cells shouldn’t cost more than $50. For that $50 on the Aspire One you also get a larger hard drive (160GB vs. 120GB).

So with the NC10 shipping for $488, I should think about it as costing $438? I guess that sounds fair. A little expensive maybe but fair for a 10″ display right now, with a little premium on top because its got a great keyboard, great battery life, etc. As more and more netbooks compete for this space, I assume this’ll fall in price at least $39, and soon…

It will be interesting to see somebody take the thing apart and figure out why the battery life is better than other netbooks (underclocking the CPU, dimmer display, better batteries, lower power hard disk, …).

  3. Grr! The white is available but not the blue. Yes a linux version would be nice, but I’m sure Linux can always be installed if XP is too slow. Although I’d pop in extra RAM to give it a fair chance.

  4. Me too! I wish my currency wasn’t down in the poo atm… It’s damn expensive to pay in usd now…

  5. I want one!…but I want it with Linux. I think I will wait to see how it does with Ubuntu netbook remix. Someone should be putting up a review in a matter of days. If it is all warm and fuzzy I will order one and warm up my USB DVD drive. 🙂
