Pink netbooks are nothing new. MSI, Acer, Dell, and Asus have all released mini-laptops with pink lids and/or bodies as part of their netbook lineups. And if you like a pink laptop, or somehow believe that the color makes your notebook less likely to be stolen, good for you.
But the thing I don’t get it companies trying to tie pink laptops into Valentine’s Day. Because really, who gives their loved one a computer as a Valentine’s Day present? Look, I’m not saying that computers can’t be romantic gifts. I gave my wife a printer one year because she needed a new one but it hadn’t really occured to her to buy one herself. She appreciated the thought I put into the gift. But she thought the MSI Wind Valentine Edition was one of the stupidest things she’d ever seen.
Anyway, Samsung is launching a new pink model of its NC10 netbook, which should ship on February 9th, just in time for Valentine’s Day. If you plan on buying one, do me a favor and wait until March? We can’t encourage this kind of behavior by netbook makers.

Who cares what the timing is; it’s just nice to see that manufacturers are starting to realize that guys aren’t the only ones buying laptops.
Got mine yesterday and it is fab. Lovely colour, easy to use keyboard. Worth paying the extra £2 express collection, as we just went to the front of the queue.
laotop pink,. i like it..
The guy who wrote this clearly knows nothing about women [but then, how many do?]. A pink netbookwould be a perfect Valentines gift – it could only get better if it was totally encrusted with pink swarovski crystals.
A pink NC10 can’t compete against the G.I. Joe Valentine’s Day cards I used to give out in elementary school. Grunts and flamethrowers are the easiest way to a woman’s heart. Literally.
If they can make a pink one that easily, why can’t they ship some black ones to the US (as thequinox also griped above)?
Tying the pink ones to Valentine’s day makes a lot of sense. They’ll last forever if you only use them one day a year 🙂
As a woman who accessorizes her technology in pink – and knows many others who do – I like this idea. I got ahold of the pink Eee 701 last March and it happened to have the Valentine’s casing still on it. Personally, I would be thrilled to receive a pink netbook for Valentine’s Day, since – don’t look a gift horse in the mouth – it’s a NETBOOK! Chocolates, flowers and jewellery are nowhere near as useful, and can often be impersonal. As someone who gets excited by getting new technotoys, I would love this kind of gift (tho I know I won’t get it!).
Have Net-Books, will Travel. 😉
They are waiting for Halloween to release the black ones. 😉
Only 54 days until St. Patrick’s Day and *Green* Net-Books.
Pink? You are kidding me right? THEY STILL HAVEN’T MADE BLACK AVAILABLE HERE!
