samsung-n510-fron2t

Yet another Ion-powered netbook is now on sale – this time it’s Samsung’s N510-4B and Newegg.com has it listed at $599.99. It’s a solid performer, but what are you getting for just South of $600?

  • Intel Atom N280 at 1.66GHz
  • 2GB DDR2 memory
  • 250GB SATA-II hard drive
  • 802.11 b/g/n wireless
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • 11.6″ 1366×768 LCD display
  • 6 cell, 5900 mAh battery
  • Windows 7 Home Premium

As Netbook choice points out, the unit is currently shipping with NVidia’s ION LE chipset (contrary to what we were originally told). It’s still a solid performer, and an excellent option for those of you in the market for a slightly larger (and more powerful) netbook.

    1. If anyone can show me a CULV has come close to an ion netbook video/gaming performance let me know. Until that happens, CULV are barely an afterthought for most people who are under 30. More power is meaningless if you have crap GPU.

      1. most people over 30 don’t install games on their notebooks/netbooks as it often the main cause of crashes. If they do play games, they have a dedicated console like PS3 or Wii.

  1. Actually I made that comment to compare what you can get for the money. I bought a asus 1005ha and am very happy with the performance, and runs windows 7just fine. The whols point of the atom cpu is low cost netbooks in my opinion.I paid $389 and think thats a little high.
Thats about as overpriced as netbook as i have seen compared to specs and other netooks,

  2. Can’t say I’d compaire a Asus Eee PC 1201n ‘favorably’ against the Samsung N510 give that Atom 330 in teh Asus will burn through its battery three times faster.

  3. You can buy a dell inspiron 15 inch with older dual core 2.1 ghz for $449
    GET REAL

    1. we are talking abt 1.5KG and below. The Inspiron 15 inch is like 3KGs. No relevance here

  4. It so expensive. The UL20A Asus is about $500 in Amazon, a far more powerful, sexier looking unit.

Why even bother with an Atom that cost much much more?

  5. is this a joke? 600 bucks? no thanks… I will get a mini 311 or a aspire 1410.. or the wonderful eee pc 1201n
    Samsung, I’m really disappointed :-/

  6. Since this is less powerful than the Asus Eee PC 1201n (in processor and graphics apparently), yet $100 more expensive…I’m going to go ahead and pass.

  7. Is this thing matte? Wishful thinking. Additionally, I think a lot of people overlook the costs associated with Windows 7 Premium when you look at the cost of computers. Is this one overpriced? I dunno. Is it the most powerful, lightest, smallest package possible at this price point? To clarify powerful, let’s compare single core with single core. Graphic/video power is what really matters let’s be honest.

  8. Wow, that would be awesome if it were actually price according to it’s featureset…
