Samsung recently launched two new 10 inch netbook models, the Samsung N130 and N140. I got a chance to check out the N140 at a recent trade show, which Samsung is billing as the premium version that will replace the popular Samsung NC10. But it looks like the cheaper Samsung N130 has beat the N140 to the market. At least two retailers are taking orders for the Samsung N130-13B, which is the version of the laptop with slate blue lid.

You can order the Samsung N130-13B for $328.99 from Buy.com or $350.99 from Amazon. Neither site has any product pictures yet, but Samsung has posted the official US product page for the Samsung N130-13B, where you can find pictures and detailed specs.

  1. What’s with this “(max: 1GB)”?
    Has Samsung produced a special restricted version for the US-market, or is it a typo? Because I’ve already read reports where users have upgraded their (European) N130 with 2GB RAM.

  2. Looks like the N140 has a much better sound then the N110 I have (3W output speakers instead of 1W). I like the N110 but the volume is just too low to listen to music or video’s. I have bought USB power speakers to boost the sound, but this means carrying more junk around.

    1. Yes, this machine conformed to Microsoft’s desire to keep netbooks dumb and out of the way. These machines were drawn up so long ago that they really don’t fit the current market…an evolutionary dead-end in other words.

      On the other hand, from Samsungs point of view, these models are likely easy to make and provide a few more dollars profit each.

  4. Smaller battery but adds wireless n. Why is this better than my NC10?

  5. I thought most netbooks RAM could be expanded to 2GB. If that is the case then this offering from Samsung is a step backwards in my opinion.

    1. I have a Samsung N135 which samsung explicitly says can be upgradedto 2GB, but in all my research to buy a 2GB card it says it’s good for the Samsung n130.
