Samsung’s latest high-end smartphones may feature fancy new Exynos 8890 octa-core processors (at least in markets where the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7Â don’t have Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chips). But not every device needs a high-performance processor… sometimes price and power consumption are more important.
So Samsung is adding a new member to its Exynos 7 processor lineup. The Exynos 7 Quad 7570 is a 14nm ARM Cortex-A53 processor designed for budget phones and low-power Internet of Things products.
Samsung says the new chip offers up to 70 percent better performance and up to 30 percent better power efficiency than its predecessor, thanks to the move from 28nm to 14nm.
The new chip features an integrated Cat. 4 LTE 2CA modem and support for WiFi, Bluetooth, FM radio, and GPS and GLONASS.
It supports devices with screen resolutions up to 1280 x 800 pixels and has signal processing support for cameras with resolutions up to 13MP and 8MP (for devices with front and back cameras).
