Samsung’s latest Chrome OS laptops are coming in April and they’ll be available in two sizes.
For $320, you’ll be able to pick up a Samsung Chromebook 2 with an 11.6 inch display. A $400 model with a 13.3 inch display also launches in April.
Both models feature octa-core processors and 4GB of RAM, offering a major upgrade over the previous Samsung Chromebook.
The 13.3 inch Samsung Chromebook 2 has a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a 2.1 GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, 16GB of flash storage, and up to 8.5 hours of battery life.
It measures 12.7″ x 8.8″ x 0.65″ and weighs about 3.1 pounds, features a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port, a microSD card slot, and an HDMI port, a 720p webcam, and the laptop’ll be available in gray.
The 13.3 inch model has a 250nit display and stereo 2W speakers.
Samsung’s 11.6 inch Chromebook 2 has similar specs, but it sports a 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.9 GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor, and up to 8 hours of battery life.
The smaller model measures 11.4″ x 8.1″ x 0.66″ and weighs 2.4 pounds. It’ll be available in both black and white.
Both the 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch models appear to have the same fake stitched-leather finish on their lids as you’d find on the latest Samsung phones.
Samsung’s new Chromebooks will be available through retail channels — we first heard about them through a product listing that was posted prematurely at the B&H website.
But Samsung says these models are designed with education in mind and it’ll be marketed toward students and teachers and schools can purchase support from Google’s education program for $30 per device.
The larger model is the first Chrome laptop since the $1299 Google Chromebook Pixel to ship with a full HD (or higher resolution) display, and both models are among the few Chromebooks to feature 4GB of RAM. Those features should help set them apart from cheaper Chromebooks from Acer and Toshiba.
Haaa, too nice, I wait this kind of device for long time. If linux can be installed on it and if that’s Mali GPU version of Exynos 5 Octacore I will buy one quickly.
It says it’s a 2.1 GHz Exynos, so it must be the 5422, which uses the Mali GPU 😀
Ooh shiny 😀
Will both of these be fanless?
Its ARM so it should be
Yep.
