You know how it seems like smartphones are getting bigger and bigger? That’s because they are. Meet the Samsung Galaxy W. It’s a smartphone with a 7 inch screen.
Sure, it’s not available in the US… and it’s not quite as big as the new Asus FonePad 8. But it’s still a smartphone with a 7 inch screen. Rememeber when 4 inch phones seemed enormous?
Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy W is launching in Korea only at the moment, where shoppers will be able to pick up a phone with a 7 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel TFT display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card reader, and a 3200mAh battery.
The phone runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, features an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera, as well as support for 4G LTE-A networks.
The Samsung Galaxy W will be available in black, white, or red.
It’s unlikely the Galaxy W will ever make it to the United States… while smartphone sizes in the US seem to be on the rise, phones with tablet-sized screens seem to be much more popular in Asia for now.
I want I want I WANT THAT !!!!!!!! Pity it is not in states yet. Love my Galaxy note, but the bigger screen is even better.
Sammy are doing it because they don’t want Asus to have too much of the market. The Asus Fonepad 7 ME175 uses the extra space to have 7 apps horizontally in the bottom tray (and dual SIMs).
As Note user and previous owner of first Tab, I say: iWant.
Isn’t this basically the same as the original galaxy tab? I remember it also made phone calls. I guess the difference is that that was available in Wi-Fi only models as well.
Who knows why they did this..it’s Samsung.
I love how that guy in the photo is holding his giant phone with his thumb and index finger trying to imply it’s tiny. So chances are the photographer doesn’t want him covering the Samsung logo but it’s still pretty hilarious how he’s holding a giant phone with those two fingers.
