Google already introduced the first Chromebook from Samsung at the Google I/O developer conference this morning. But now Samsung is sharing additional details about the laptop the company is calling the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook.
The laptop will feature a 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display which Samsung calls a SuperBright display, claiming it’s 36% brighter than a standard display.
The laptop will measure 0.79 inches thick and have a full sized keyboard and an oversized clickabel trackpad. The Chromebook has a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor, and Samsung promises up to 8.5 hours of battery life.
There’s an HD webcam, a built-in microphone, and stereo speakers.
The two USB ports can charge mobile phones and accessories, and can also read data from digital cameras and removable storage devices. There’s also an SDHC card slot.
Samsung will offer a WiFi only model for $429.99, and a 3G capable version for $499.99. Verizon will provide up to 100MB of free 3G access to customers for the first two years. If you need more bandwidth than that you can pay to upgrade your plan.
