The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4Â is all the things you’d expect from a modern flagship phone. It has a speedy processor, high quality cameras, plenty of RAM and storage, a waterproof design and a big 6.2 inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. And that’s just what you see before you unfolded the phone.
Once you do that, it becomes a 7.6 inch tablet. And early reports indicate that it’s Samsung’s best looking smartphone/tablet hybrid to date, with a less visible crease where the screen folds, a wider cover display, and a slimmer hinge for an overall more compact design. It still ain’t cheap though: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is up for pre-order today for $1799 and up and ships starting August 26, 2022.
The new phone has a 7.6 inch, 2176 x 1812 pixel primary (interior) display with a 4MP under-display camera for a seamless design in tablet mode. When folded, you get a narrower 6.2 inch, 2316 x 904 pixel display with a 10MP front-facing camera in a hole-punch style cut-out. Both screens are AMOLED displays with refresh rates up to 120 Hz.
Whether you’re using the primary or the cover screen, you can snap photos with the three rear cameras, which include a 50MP primary camera, 12MPo ultra wide angle-camera, and 10MP telephoto camera.
And all models are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chips and 12GB of RAM. Samsung offers storage configurations ranging from 256GB to 1TB.
The Galaxy Z Fold4 has a 4,400 mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging (wired) as well as wireless charging and reverse wireless charging (allowing you to charge another phone, earbuds, or other supported gear by placing it on the back of the phone).
Samsung’s latest foldables will ship with Android 12L, a version of Google’s smartphone operating system that includes some optimizations for tablets, foldables, and other large-screen devices.
