You know you have a successful product on your launch when Chinese companies take it upon themselves to mimic your design. We’ve seen plenty of Apple iPad clones, but the APAD IMX515 G10 is one of the first Samsung Galaxy Tab clones to hit the market… the market, being China.
The case design is pretty clearly inspired by the Galaxy Tab, with the same balance of angular and rounded edges, and the same Android button layout and even the same design for the Home, Back, and Search buttons — although the Menu button uses a different icon.
But the APAD G10 isn’t a complete ripoff of the Galaxy Tab. First, while both have 1024 x 600 pixel screens resolutions, the Galaxy Tab has a 7 inch display while the G10 reportedly has a 10 inch screen. Second, the Galaxy Tab has a 1GHz Samsung Humminbird processor while the G10 has a lower power 800MHz Freescale i.MX515 chip.
Rounding out the specs are 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and Android 2.2. Android Tablets reports that the tablet could sell for around $200, although it’s not clear if or when it will be available outside of China.
