Samsung has been showing off the Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet for just as long as the Galaxy Tab 10.1. But while the company’s 10 inch Android tablet has been available in the US for a few months, its slightly smaller sibling has been a no show.
Now it looks like the wait is almost over. Best Buy is expected to get the tablet in stock starting September 22nd, although some stores may not get the Galaxy Tab 8.9 until the 25th. Best Buy started taking pre-orders a few days ago, with a 16GB model going for $470 and a 32GB tablet running $570, although Engadget says the tablet could sell for $399.99.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 features an 8.9 inch, 1280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen display, 1GB of RAM, front and rear camers and Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb. It has a 6100mAh battery and measures 9.1″ x 6.2″ x 0.3″ and weighs less than a pound.
