The Best Buy store in New York City’s Union Square will begin selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 today at noon. The store is also throwing in a free leather pouch for the first 200 customers. For anyone in the US who isn’t able to make it to Manhattan today, you can place a pre-order from the Best Buy web site.
The retailer is offering four different configurations. For $499.99 you can snag a unit with 16GB of storage and either a white or a metallic gray case. A 32GB model with the same color options runs $599.99. The tablet is expected to be in stock around the country on June 17th, and additional retailers should begin offering the Galaxy Tab 10.1 soon as well.
The tablet features a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel HD display, and runs Google Android 3.1. It’s the thinnest 10 inch tablet available, measuring just about a third of an inch thick. It’s also one of the lightest, weighing just about 1.25 pounds.
At launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will ship with a pretty standard version of Google Android 3.1, but Samsung will offer a software update soon adding the company’s Touchwiz user interface and Media Hub applications.
