Chinese chip maker Rockchip plans to demonstrate a new system at the Consumer Electronics Show next week for wirelessly synchronizing Android smartphones and tablets with computers on your home network.
The Rockchip eHome Cloud Solution will allow users to transfer or share files or stream music or videos wirelessly.
The press release doesn’t really describe the hardware behind the eHome Cloud Solution in detail, but the system uses a Rockchip RK2918 ARM-based processor. At launch it will support Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but support for Android 4.0 is due next month.
We should know more about the technology involved once the Consumer Electrons Show starts on January 19th.
Rockchip’s low power ARM-based processors power many of the low-cost tablets, eReaders, MP3 players and other digital devices produced in China.
