Google is getting ready to launch a major update to its operating system for smartwatches and, according to a new report from VentureBeat’s Evan Blass, the first devices to ship with Android Wear 2.0 will be two smartwatches developed by LG and Google.
The watches are expected to be called the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, and they’re said to have been developed in partnership with Google much the same way that Nexus smartphones and tablets had been developed in previous years.
Blass says the watches will officially launch on February 9th.
The move comes more than half a year after Google released the first developer preview of Android Wear 2.0, and we’ve been hearing rumors that Nexus-style smartwatches were in the works since last summer.
Blass says both watches feature round, plastic OLED displays, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4GB of storage. They have touchscreen displays, support for Google Assistant voice features, and digital crown buttons.
There are some key differences between the Watch Sport and Watch Style though, and they’re not all about size:

Already have an Android Wear smartwatch? Google is also expected to start rolling out Android Wear 2.0 updates for supported models in February, bringing an updated user interface, support for standalone apps that work when your watch isn’t connected to a phone, and handwriting recognition, among other things.
Keep in mind, Google and LG haven’t confirmed the existence of the new watches yet, or the February 9th launch date. But Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, has a pretty good track record with tech-related leaks.
