Plan to spend $10,000 or more on an Apple Watch Edition? Then you might want to buy the best protection available… which may cost you another $999.
According to 9to5Mac, that’s how much Apple will charge for a new AppleCare+ Protection plan offered exclusively for the company’s most expensive smartwatch models.
Update: Now that Apple Watch pre-orders are open, it turns out the price is even higher: AppleCare+ costs $1,500 for an Apple Watch Edition.
If you opt for one of the less astronomically priced Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport models, you can get a cheaper protection plan for $79 or $59, respectively.
Update:Â The actual prices are $69 for the Apple Watch and $49 for the Apple Watch Sport.
So what does $999 worth of protection buy you?
- Three years of technical support
- 24/7 support
- Accidental damage protection covering up to two incidents
If your watch does break and you’re to blame rather than defective hardware, 9to5Mac says you may still have to pay some money out of pocket if you need a full replacement. But you’ll probably have to pay less than you would for a brand new watch.
AppleCare protection plans are available for most products Apple sells, and the more expensive the Apple product, the more an AppleCare plan will cost. So it’s not surprising that the cost is highest for one of the most expensive products Apple sells.
The Apple Watch Sport, Watch, And Watch Edition go up for pre-order on April 10th.
Seems to be a mistake with this article, instead of the premium apple watch pictured, someone’s slipped in a joke image of a $5 square watch.
oh my the pricing on the apple watch is ridiculous…. are the isheeps stupid enough to buy this joke?
Is this a bunch of butthurt long-ago MS fans taking a break from tapping Ads to make Google happy?
Is this a “halo” product for Apple?
go get em fanboys….you will look sooooo cool…
This whole apple watch thing would have been considered satire not long ago. Some idiots will pay it though, so I struggle to blame apple. They’ll be paying 10K (..or 11K probably with this) for a piece of ‘jewellery’ that will be obsolete within a couple of years.
The other Apple products are already jewelry of sorts. This seems to fit into the scheme of things.
They will buy it u know! fan boys have deep wallets…lol
So if I need to know what time it is, I can make an appointment with an Apple Genius?
