I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Netbooks are smaller than full sized laptops. Hard to believe, but true. While there are many advantages to the small size of netbooks, it also means is that many accessories designed for full sized laptops won’t work with mini-notebooks that have 10 inch or smaller displays. For instance, vehicle mounts.
RAM Mount has been making mounts for laptops (and phones, GPS devices, kayaks, and a whole slew of other items) for a while now. But if you tried slapping a netbook into that mount it would either look silly with all that extra space around the edges, or be impossible to fasten properly.
Now the company is offering an item called the Tough Tray II that’s designed specifically for mini-laptops and UMPCs. It measure just 6 inches wide and the length can be adjusted from about 8.5 inches to 12.3 inches to accomodated a wide variety of devices. The mount costs $37.72 and the company offers accessories to fasten it to your vehicle as well.
Sure, you could just plop your netbook on the passenger seat and use it as a GPS unit, multimedia hub for your car, or to play solitair while stuck in traffic. But this kind of mount makes it much easier to use your computer without taking your eyes as far off the road. Oh yeah, and it’ll let an actual passenger sit in that seat next to the driver’s seat.

Ans: Too small a collection of images for Photoshop.
This may be a small issue but why the hell would you have a promotional picture showing a Celio Redfly as the netbook of choice in the car mount? The Redfly isn’t even a netbook at all – its made to be a smartphone adapter. It has no internal processor or memory and maybe no one else will catch it but I think it wasn’t too bright to use that in the picture. A generic Acer Aspire One would have been a far better choice.
