The Podor T518 is pocket-sized device which you can plug into a TV or monitor to run Android apps on a big screen. This Android TV box has a custom app launcher designed for big screens, an adjustable WiFi antenna that helps keep it connected to your network, and relatively speedy processor.

W2Comp sells the T518 for $78, but the retailer sent me a demo unit to test a few months ago — and now it can be yours for free.

Podor T518

The Podor T518 features a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, WiFI, and Bluetooth.

It has a full-sized USB ports, two micro USB ports, a micro SD card slot, and an HDMI adapter. The adjustable antenna helps this model stand out from many of the similar Android TV boxes on the market — but another nice touch is the Fn button on the side of the case. It helps you flash custom ROMs, software updates, or other software without sticking a paperclip in a hole and fishing around for a reset button (something you have to do with many other Android boxes).

Over the past few months I’ve run a few different tests on this device, including running PicUntu Linux and the Cheapcast Android app. The device is pretty responsive, supports most Android apps, and makes a nice little option for streaming internet videos or playing games — assuming you’ve got a keyboard, mouse, remote control, or game controller.

Here’s how to win a free Podor T518:

  2. I want one, but $78 seems a bit pricey. Thought the prices would have dropped to under $30 by now. Guess I was wrong. Would love to win this one. Fingers crossed.

  3. willowfox stole my story but the real story is much worse:
Finally you open up these giveaways for the rest of the world, great, as
one begins to get really pissed off when every giveaway is for the USA
only. Some of us who live far away are poor and need a new PC but I for
one can no longer afford to buy one, secondhand monitors are cheap but
the PCs are not, and these mini PCs are hard to find where I live, so
they are darn expensive. My last PC an HP that I purchased in 2004,
plus monitor and two keyboards were all stolen a few months ago, and no
way I can afford to buy again but my old Onda tablet still functions to a
degree, battery life is absolute shit, nothing I can do about it as I
don’t have a choice. Luckily WiFi around here is free but reception
isn’t that good because the WiFi in the tablet is rubbish, so I need one
of these mini PCs that will work better then my dodgy Onda tablet,
    that’s if the tablet works.
So, if I don’t get some charity from
liliputing on this one, then I am asking anyone reading this who has a
spare mini PC that they don’t need anymore, please send it to me as I
really need one, I only need the PC, not the adapter, so it will cost
only a few dollars to send. I am damn poor these days. And I have gas.

  4. This would make a nice companion to my dual core MX1. Happy new year to all!

  5. Some pretty funny and great comments. I enjoy Liliputing. Happy New Year and looking forward to more great information.

  6. Did not win anything during 2013. Let’s see 2014 eve turn out ok..either way I will keep reading liliputing everyday 🙂

  7. I am running out of things to randomly write. There should at least be a “answer this question in the comments” thing.

  8. Are people without the HIV or crying about being poor eligible? I want it because I’m an American and deserve stuff.

  9. This looks like a great little computer. With a good gamepad, it’d be serious gaming machine, particularly for emulating older consoles.

  10. Would love to win this for dad’s TV, which he wants to watch YouTube on. This would be just the ticket.

I read Liliputing on the daily, great site for info.

  11. I just bought my fiancé an android tablet for Xmas and this would be a wonderful thing to top it off with 🙂

  12. Looks like a cool little device.. Thx for sharing this nifty lil android pc..

  13. I can understand when you limit giveaways to the US, as shipping costs around the world can be quite high. So I really appreciate I can take part this time.
I’ve been using a dual core Rockchip mini pc with Android for a couple of weeks now (I’m preparing it for a presentation room), but for personal use, I’d prefer some more power. Any hints where to find compatible ROMs?

  14. This looks like a neat Android box. Would love to be able to try it out!

  15. I am interested as well. And thank you for allowing anyone around the globe to win!

  16. It would be awesome to test it with TV and see how it goes. These devices are really amazing because you can have everything you had before in recorders, just smaller.

  18. In for the giveaway! Thanks.

When is Rockchip gonna make it easier for XBMC to run on these?

  19. Would be a great new year 🙂 merry xmas and a happy new year from hong kong

  20. Thank for opening up the giveaways to the whole world. It’s because of this site that I am now interested in these lil gadgets. Keep up the good work and I wish you more success in 2014. Happy new year.

  21. My family would love me more if I won this Podor T518 device. Oh, please let me win this… 🙂

  22. The Podor T518 seems like a great little slick device. I would be honored to take it off your hands.

  23. Hello, it will be great when the Linux for these devices (rk3188 Picuntu linux) has had all the graphics chip properly hardware accelerated MALI 400.
Although it isn’t of *that* much importance for many computing jobs, it seems silly to have a handycap on such good graphics power

. Designers and atchictects and gamers will all need good graphics and after all, what is a computing device? other than a graphical visual tool in life.

  30. Hope i get luck in this one. Thanks for the contest 🙂

  31. Well, this is 11th time, I am entering into ‘Give away’ program…no luck so far and counting…

  32. Cool, I would turn this baby in a nice emulation station and video hub….would love one!

  33. Pick me pick me! I have chromecast and I’d love to compare this to that side by side 🙂

  34. This would be pretty perfect to tie my home media system together with. Thanks for the chance!

  35. Might this giveaway be open to non-US-residents: I’m game.

  36. Cool, cool. These things look pretty neat, particularly to turn my “dumb” TV into a smart one, or a monitor into a small android box.

  37. Tried buying some of those RK3188 things on eBay and eBay contacted me to tell me the ones I did get were sold by cons. So maybe I have a shot at this one? Hope so. Happy New Year 🙂

  38. I have no idea if this competition is Worldwide this time, but if, this is my entry 😛

  39. What a cool little TV PC! Being stuck at home on disability is getting
boring — I’d love to take it for a spin & compare notes with you.

  40. Thanks again for another contest! Would be nice to have one of these!

  41. Thanks for a great site, Brad. Consistently enjoyable articles. All the best for the new year.

I’d love to get one of these little Rockchip 3188 beauties.

  42. Son takes his father to the doctor. Doctor gives them the bad news that the father is dying of cancer. Father tells the son that he has had a good long life and wants to stop at the bar on the way home to celebrate it.
While at the bar, the father sees several of his friends. He tells them that he is dying of AIDS. When the friends leave the son asks, ‘Dad, you are dying of cancer. Why did you tell them that you are dying of AIDS?’
The father replies, ‘I don’t want them screwing your mother after I’m gone!’

  43. lovely bit of kit..got my fingers crossed. Keep being brilliant lilliputing!

  44. Happy New Year Brad…I would truly like winning your give-a-way and live in San Francisco, CA. The email attached to this comment is valid and I will forward my full address to you once notified I have won.
