Panasonic launched the original Toughpad 4K tablet a little over a year ago, offering a 20 inch Windows tablet with a 3840 x 2560 pixel display, an Intel Core Ivy Bridge processor, NVIDIA graphics, and 16GB of RAM.
Now the company is preparing to offer a new model with a newer processor and a starting price that’s just half the cost of the original… although the new Toughpad 4K is still a high-priced piece of hardware.
Panasonic says the new Toughpad 4K tablet will be available starting in July for $2,999.
It has a Core i5 Broadwell processor with Intel vPro, HDMI 2.0 input, mini DisplayPort output, USB 3.0, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Ethernet.
Panasonic will offer two different models. The $2,999 model will be the standard edition version with Intel HD graphics. A higher-priced performance edition with NVIDIA graphics and a digital pen will also be available at some point… although the pen is also an optional accessory for the standard model.
The tablet’s most remarkable feature is its big, high-resolution display. It’s an IPS display with a 15:10 aspect ratio, wide viewing angles, and 230 pixels per inch.
Panasonic is positioning the tablet as a device for “creative” and “technical” applications such as professional video editing, photography, healthcare, architecture, and design.
A 15:10 aspect ratio is obviously 5 times better than a 3:2 ratio.
hahaha 🙂
$3000. Lol
First thought was the same – HOW MUCH – and then had the same reaction
it’s half the previous and still cheap related to the amazing 10 MPixel, or 25% more as 4K2K TV ??? Any idea what investment cost to manufacture that panel which is UNIQUE in the whole industry ???
Typo in title, it’s Panasonic
