Pandora has overhauled its internet radio app for Android with a new user interface and new features that had only been available from the Pandora website up until recently.

Pandora Android app

The user interface features a new, lighter theme… and larger, more prominent advertisements. That’s not really a problem if you’re using a phone or tablet with a larger, high resolution display, but some of the banner ads pretty much covered the album art on my Google Nexus One smartphone.

You can also pay for a Pandora One subscription to remove the ads altogether.

Much more exciting are the new music discovery and artist information features.

You can now use the Pandora app for Android to view your song history, explore full song lyrics and artist biographies and discographies.

Pandora also now makes it easy to view similar tracks and similar artists, letting you further customize your digital radio station preferences.

The new user interface also makes the Pandora app for Android look more like the company’s web app and iOS apps, bringing a more consistent look and feel to the user experience for users that listen to Pandora on multiple devices.
