Oppo is taking its Find 7 smartphone with a WQHD display on a world tour. This week the Oppo Find 7 launched in Taiwan and India.
The phone sports a 5.5 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display and a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip, giving it one of the fastest processors and the most pixel-dense displays of any phone on the market.
The Chinese phone maker introduced the Oppo Find 7 in March, along with a slightly less impressive model called the Oppo Find 7a, which is already available in the US and other markets.
While the Find 7a has a 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM, and 16GBÂ of storage, the Oppo Find 7 has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a screen with 538 pixels per inch.
The phone also has a 13MP Sony Exmor IMX214 camera and support for recording 4K videos. It has a 3000mAh battery and supports WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, and 4G LTE.
For those interested. The cost of the Find 7 is 37,990.00 INR which is $695.677 CAD and $640.20 USD. The Find 7 and 7a have an expandable microSD card slot which can take up to 128GB cards.
Is there a reason to want more than a 1080P screen on a 5.5″ device? It seems like you are just asking the GPU and battery to work harder without a visible benefit. Sort of reminds me of the MP race with compact cameras.
“2.5 inch Qualcomm Snapdragon” hoping typo, don’t really care how big the CPU is 😛
Separately, these things typically have good cyanogenmod support right? It’s going to be interesting to see what the price tag on this is and whether it becomes widely available before the oneplus one. That also determines which one I buy 😛
It’s all about CPU size now.
The latest thing is to have a blue LED-illuminated window over the SOC ala gaming PCs.
😉
Aah I see, so that’s why phone screens are getting bigger, it’s so we can hide a bigger CPU behind it! 😛
