Smartphone maker Oppo has unveiled two new smartphones which are set to launch in China this month before going on sale internationally in June.

The Oppo R7 is a 5 inch smartphone that sells for about $400, while the Oppo R7 Plus is a 6 inch model with a $480 price tag.

Both phones feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processors, 3GB of RAM, magnesium/aluminum alloy cases, and slim designs: the Oppo R7 is just 6.3mm thick, while the larger model is 7.75m.

Each has a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a full HD display, and support for Oppo’s VOOC quick-charging technology, which is said to let you charge the Oppo R7 battery to 75 percent in just 30 minutes.

So what’s the difference between the two phones? Well, one has a bigger screen, but that’s not all. The Oppo R7 Plus has a 4100mAh battery, 32GB of storage, 802.11ac WiFi, and Android 5.1, while the smaller model has a 2320mAh battery, 16GB of storage, 802.11n WiFi, and Android 4.4.

The phones will eventually be available for purchase from the Oppo R7 and Opp R7 Plus pages at the Oppo Style store. You can also find more details about the 3G and 4G wireless bands supported by the phones at those pages.

With features including 3GB of RAM and metal cases, the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus phones seem like high-end devices. But with the Snapdragon 615 processor and with at least one model shipping with a less-than-current version of Android, they seem more like mid-range devices. Fortunately they’re also priced like mid-range phones.

  1. Only 2300 mAh on the smaller model spoils it.
Should have at least 3000 mAh

  2. The Snapdragon 615 processor is no slow poke. Sure, it is not the fastest processor out there but I doubt any user would notice lag unless playing the most bleeding edge game. At least it won’t overheat.
