The OLPC project may have started off as a non-profit initiative to develop inexpensive computers and distribute “One Laptop Per Child” to developing nations around the world. But over the past few years the group has also branched out into durable, low power tablets.
Now OLPC is bringing the two projects together with the XO-4 Touch. It will be the first OLPC computer with notebook and tablet features.
The XO-4 Touch will have a Neonode optical multi-touch screen and a sunlight readable display. The touchscreen will be able to pick up pressure-sensitive pen and brush input.
Under the hood, the XO-4 Touch has a 1.2 GHz Marvell Armada 2128 dual core ARMv7 processor.
OLPC says the new device is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2013. Pricing  hasn’t yet been set.
