Notion Ink has pushed out a software update for the recently released Adam tablet. Notion Ink Fan has a lengthy list of the updates, but here are a few highlights:
- Stability improvements
- “Discard Update” feature that will keep the tablet from locking up if a software update goes bad
- Resolved GPS coordinate problems
- Fixed an issue that caused a crash when plugging or unplugging an external keyboard
- Web browser bug fixes
- Resolved issues with the video player
On the one hand, it’s great to see that the company is continuing to work on the software. On the other hand, many early customers have reported issues with the software, which suggests that maybe it could have used a little more time in the oven before shipping in the first place.

It is reasonably clear that Adam tablet is not ready for prime time, just one still being experimented in an India lab from some tech & business wannabes.
For how else do you explain their complete absense in retail stores, in India or anywhere else ?
If it works with Android HoneyComb, or dual boot with what it has now, it will sell well? My guess is that Notions version of Android, even if it has a great vision, concerns some in the market… as what sells something is the applications (people are wondering if there will be a broad range of apps for Notion’s version, simple).
Oh god. Another brilliant mind who thinks quality is tied to retail stores. It’s NOT released yet! It’s in preorder stage. That’s IT. Why does anyone think otherwise? If you aren’t an early adopter don’t get this tablet.
