NOOK Color Tweaks

The Barnes & Noble NOOK Color hacking continues. Shortly after the 7 inch color eBook Reader running Google Android was released, hackers figured out how to root it, install third party apps, and overclock it. Now there’s a new utility designed to make hacking the NOOK Color even easier.

The app is called NOOK Color Tweaks, and it’s available as a free download from the Android Market. You can use it to overclock the tablet to speeds as high as 1.3 GHz, or even increase the headphone or speaker volume, or adjust the settings to reduce the amount of hiss you hear when using headphones.

The app won’t root the tablet for you, but if you’ve already rooted the tablet and installed a custom kernel with support for CPU clock rate adjustments the NOOK Color Tweaks app presents a simple graphical user interface for adjusting your settings.
