Nokia is introducing its next-generation Lumia smartphones, starting with the Nokia Lumia 920. The handset will be one of the first phones to ship with Microsoft Windows Phone 8 software.

It has a 4.5 inch curved glass display, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core processor, and an 8.7 MP camera.

Nokia says the phone has a PureMotion HD+ display, with better-than-HD resolution and a fast refresh rate.

The phone has a 2000mAh battery, and Nokia says it offers all-day battery life, thanks to the Snapdragon S4 processor which uses 30% less power than a quad-core chip.

The phone also supports Near Field Communication, wireless charging, and offline mapping capabilities — letting you use GPS navigation whether your phone is connected to the internet or not.

Location services also let you view inside some buildings, and there’s a new Nokia City View augmented reality feature that displays information about restaurants and other locations you point your camera at. You can then tap the icon to view more information about that location or, for example, book a table at that restaurant.

The phone also has a touchscreen that works with fingertips or with gloves.

Nokia uses the Qi standard for wireless charging — and has also partnered with businesses to offer free charging stations. You’ll be able to charge your device at a Virgin Atlantic lounge or at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf coffee shop.
