Asus is continuing on its quest to slap the Eee brand name on every form of consumer electronics imaginable by going someplace I honestly didn’t imagine: robotics. PC World reports that Asus plans to launch an educational robot called the EeeBot.

The EeeBot will be available to children in Tawian as part of a government program to promote Android. No, not Androids as in synthetic human beings, but Android, as in a light weight operating system designed by Google to run on cellphones and other consumer electronics. Because the EeeBot will be powered by the Android OS.

Like other Asus Eee products, the idea is to keep costs down and present a cheap alternative to more expensive products in the space.

Other products in the Eee line including the Eee Box nettop computer, the Eee Keyboard multimedia-centric computer-in-a-keyboard, the Eee Top all-in-one desktop, and the EeeNas network attached storage device.

It will probably be a few years before the EeeBot actually hits the streets.
