CherryPal’s 7 inch CherryPad first surfaced a few months ago to underwhelming reviews. It has a sluggish processor, low resolution display, and no support for multitouch. Now MobileMag has the skinny on a new model coming soon from CherryPal.
The new tablet will also feature a 7 inch display. But it will feature a capacitive touch panel with support for multitouch gestures. The screen resolution will also be bumped up from 800 x 480 to 1024 x 600 pixels. The new model will also have cameras on the front and back, an LED flash and autofocus. The new CherryPad is powered by a zippier 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, and the tablet now supports 512MB of RAM and 8GB to 16GB of storage.
Overall, the next-generation CherryPad sounds like a big improvement — although those extra features come at a price. CherryPal expects to sell the new CherryPad for between $300 and $400, or as much as twice the cost of the original.
