While it’s a relatively painless process to upgrade the RAM in most netbooks, it can be hard to figure out what type of RAM you need without first popping open your computer case and looking inside. Memory maker Crucial has launched a new web service that makes the process much easier.Â
The Netbook Upgrade Center helps you find the appropriate type of memory for your netbook. Just pick the manufacturer, product line, and then model number and Crucial will give you a recommendation. Of course, Crucial wants you to buy their RAM (and the prices are fairly reasonable), but once you find out that an Acer Aspire One can take up to 1.5GB of memory (including the 512MB that’s soldered to the motherboard) and accepts DDR2 PC2-5300 sticks, there’s nothing stopping you from bargain hunting to find the best price.
