The folks at UMPC Fever have gotten their hands on the NEC Versa N1100 netbook we first got a look at back in October. And it turns out this machine is just as unattractive as the press shots indicated.
It has an incredibly boxy looking design with sharp corners instead of the rounded or tapered edges we’re used to seeing in today’s netbooks. So while the Versa N1100 might not actually be much larger than other netbooks on themarket, it looks a lot bulkier. The large bezel around the screen certainly doesn’t help.
I’m also not a fan of placing buttons to the left and right of a touchpad instead of directly below it. But this move does provide a bit more space for a nearly full sized keyboard. If you don’t mind a white keyboard on a black computer.

I’m one of the umpcfever member and I am going to test this little boy. Actually, when I find its photo on the web, my comment is just as same as yours. However, the texture of N1100 is quite special and the glossy colour is something like golden sand or debris. I think it is quite hard to show the textue of its case but the feelings just like this:

I dare to say that N1100’s real face will be better than photo, but, …. Okay, wait for our report.
Remove all of those advertising stickers and shoot it with fake Gold.
Should go well with your Volkswagen Thing

Beat that netbook with an ugly stick! Oh wait, someone already did.
