NEC’s latest Android tablet is now available in Japan. The NEC Medias Tab N-06D features a 7 inch display and an impressive array of connectivity options including NFC, LTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi. There’s even an optional 1Seg TV receiver for viewing over-the-air digital television broadcasts in Japan.

Unfortunately the Medias Tab also runs the dated Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The tablet has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, a 1280 x 800 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It measures 0.39 inches thick, and weighs 0.78 pounds. It features a dust and water resistant case.

Most of the tablets NEC has released to date have only been available in Japan, and there’s no reason to expect the Medias Tab N-06D to be any different. But when I caught up with NEC reps at CES in January, I was told that the company is hoping to make at least some of its tablets available internationally this year.
