It’s been a few months since we started hearing about NEC’s new LifeTouch Android tablet. Now the company has officially launched the device… in Japan, anyway.

The NEC LifeTouch is described as a “cloud communicator,” and it features a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, an ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 384MB of RAM, and 1GB of storage. It supports 802.11b/g/ WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS and has a G-sensor, accelerometer and light sensor.

The tablet has standard USB port and a microUSB port, a full sized SDHC card slot, and an 8 hour battery.

The LifeTouch runs Android 2.1 and supports H.264, MPEG-4, MP3, OGG, and WAV media files.

There’s no word on pricing, but the NEC LifeTouch should be available in Japan in November. I doubt we’ll see it in the US anytime soon.
