While I’ve been busy playing with Ubuntu on my Eee PC 1000H, Kevin at jkOnTheRun has been toying with OS X on his MSI Wind. The verdict? It works surprisingly well.

Today Kevin posted an amazing video showing how well the OS X sleep function works on the Wind. You might think the instant on/off thing in the headline is an exaggeration, but it’s really not. I’ve seen PDAs that don’t wake up as quickly as Kevin’s Wind.

Check out the video evidence after the break.

The MSI Wind netbook features a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and an Intel Atom N270 processor. It normally ships with Windows XP or Linux, but with a little elbow grease you can install OS X on the mini-laptop.

  1. how dare you take the OS X and put it on inferior hardware?
The Mac experience requires not only OS X but also the custom made hardware that you cant get anywhere else and the fairy dust that makes it all come together.
By running it on this POS, you are not getting the full Mac experience which only is achieved if you pay lots and lots of dollars.

as someone whose whole identity is based on my willingness to overpay for my maig hardware, I am deeply offended.

  2. Yup, OS X suspends and wakes extremely quickly. One of the nicer features of it for a laptop. 🙂
