They said they were going to do it, and they did it. Best Buy is now carrying the MSI Wind U100 in bricks and mortar stores. Felix from NetbookTech spotted one in the wild and snapped the photo you see to the right.
Best Buy is charging $399 for the netbook. Which is funny, because it costs $479.99 if you order it from the Best Buy web site. I would have guessed that the web-only version has a 6-cell battery while the in-store model has a 3-cell battery. But the product web page clearly states that the netbook has a 3-cell battery. Perhaps the in-store price is a typo?
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the Best Buy web site, “which still wrongly asserts that netbooks “don’t have the full capabilities of a computer,” doesn’t have a listing for an MSI Wind U100 netbook. Rather, it shows a product page for a “Q2 – Netbook with Intel® Atom™ Processor N270 – Black.” You can find other netbooks offered by Best Buy on the company’s netbook landing page.
So, what’s the skinny on EeePC’s at Target? Saw them on display this weekend in Seven Corners of northern Virginia but was in too much a hurry to investigate.
