msi-ae1900

The MSI AE1900 may look like an Apple Cinema, but it’s actually a fully functional computer packed into a thin casing surrounding its 18.5 inch WXGA display. It’s not exactly a powerhouse. In fact, on the inside, the AE1900 is little more than a netbook, with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, Integrated GMA950 graphics, a 160GB hard drive, and a single DDR2 RAM slot capable of handling up to 2GB of memory.

The computer runs Windows XP Home and has a nice range of connectivity options including 802.11b/g/n WiFi, an Ethernet jack, 4 USB ports, and a 4-in-1 card reader.

The AE1900 measures 18.7″  x 14.4″ x 1.9″ and uses just 45 watts of power. No word on pricing yet, but I’m hoping MSI prices this classy looking all-in-one PC competitively with the 15.6 inch Asus Eee Top which recently went on sale for $599. I’m betting that the MSI Ae1900 will cost more because of its larger display, but I’m really hoping that one day in the not-too-distant future Asus, MSI, or somebody can figure out a way to build a machine like this with a 26 inch display for less than $1000. I’d love to put a low power all-in-one PC in the living room instead of the kitchen. And at that price, it wouldn’t be too hard to justify picking up an all-in-one nettop instead of a separate computer and LCD TV.

  1. Okay 18″ is better, but I want something less then $550 not more. As soon as these ‘things’ get reduced down to $499 I’m in..until then I’ll watch from the sidelines.

    1. Agreed, $599 is too close to low end PCs with *much* more power. This thing is like a kitchen appliance…and needs to be priced as such.
