Motorola started taking pre-orders for its latest Android tablets a few weeks ago. Now the company has actually started shipping the Motorola XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1 tablets.
Motorola is selling the WiFi-only versions of the tablet, but Verizon will also offer models with 4G LTE mobile broadband.
All told there are four different models available:
- 8.2 inch tablet with 16GB of storage for $400
- 8.2 inch tablet with 32GB of storage for $500
- 10.1 inch tablet with 16GB of storage for $500
- 10.1 inch tablet with 32GB of storage for $600
Each model has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb software. They have front-facing 1.3MP cameras and rear-facing 5MP cameras with auto-focus, and flash. Both the 8.2 inch and 10.1 inch tablets can handle 1080p HD video playback and include 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and aGPS.
Despite the difference in screen sizes, both tablets have 1280 x 800 pixel IPS displays.
The 10.1 inch model promises up to 10 hours of battery life. It measures 10″ x  6.8″ x 0.35″ and weighs 1.33 pounds.
The smaller 8.2 inch model offers up to 6 hours of run time, measures 8.5″ x 5.5″ x 0.35″ and weighs 0.86 pounds.

Really? With Tegra 3 Transformer Prime shipping, and imminent release of a Samsung Galaxy Tegra 3 model coming soon, who cares? Too little too late. iPad 3 will be released in February and no one will notice the Xyboard at all.
