Sure, we got a pretty good look at Motorola’s upcoming Android tablet when Google’s Andy Rubin showed one off on stage recently. But Rubin didn’t share many details on the hardware. For that we have to either wait until Motorola is ready to talk… or look to Taiwan where some dude in the Mobile01 forum has posted detailed specs and some pictures to back them up.
He claims the tablet has a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 32GB of storage, a 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 5MP rear carmer and 2MP front camera, a micoSD card slot, HDMI output and a gyroscope. It will be available with UMTS, CDMA, and LTE connectivity and come in 7 and 12 inch versions.
I’m going to take those details with a grain of salt for now… but they sound quite plausible. And while photos can be doctored, the pictures clearly show a new version of Google Android which looks a lot like the version of Android 3.0 Honeycomb Andy Rubin was demonstrating recently. The UI has been optimized for touchscreen tablets, with a combination of icons and widgets, and on-screen buttons rather than buttons built into the bezel of the device.
