booklet 3g folded down

Thought you already knew everything there was to know about the Nokia Booklet 3G? Here’s a few tidbits that I learned today, courtesy of Tnkgrl, who got to spend a little hands-on time with the laptop recently.

First up, the laptop display can be folded down to a nearly 180 degree angle, as you can see from the image above. That’s pretty cool. On the other hand, the glossy screen is nearly unreadable outdoors, as you can also see from the image above.

Another mark in the plus column is the fact that the touchpad supports 2-finger scrolling. But here’s a fairly major ding against the Booklet3G: you’d better like 1GB of RAM, because that’s all you’re going to get. The RAM is soldered to the motherboard and is not user upgradeable.

You can see more in Tnkgrl’s video, which I’ve embedded after the break.

  1. it’s sad. 1 GB isn’t enough…i was really considering buying it(used market, no oficial distribuction in Brazil), because the extra features:gps, metal finnish… but i will reconsider other brands…

  2. i’d only get it if it had 2gb or more, there’s no point geting it with only 1gb that’s just silly

  3. I have this machine and Im just upgrading to Ubuntu in place of that crappy W7. I feel really ripped off as I was planning to upgrade memory. What I like is the battery life and 3g. But I really wanted to have more memory.

  4. Hey, two of its weak points already revealed, and not ones to be ignored. Windows 7 and 1GB is poor, and not a good investment for the future.
I think that leaves room for the competition.
