MINISFORUM is a Chinese PC maker that tends to specialize in compact computers with small form-factor bodies, and sometimes it seems like the company has a new model to announce every week.
But the new MINISFORUM Game Mini is something a little different. It’s a gaming PC that’s still pretty small compared with most gaming desktops. But it has an open frame design that exposes the computer’s components to the air which could help keep high-power hardware from overheating.
MINISFORUM hasn’t announced the price or release date, but the company has begun showing off images and revealing some specs of the Game Mini on social media.
The computer has a frame that allows a high-performance desktop graphics card to live on one side of the system while the mainboard, processor, memory, cooling fan, and power supply are on the other.
MINISFORUM says the model it’s showing off features:
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor
- Gigabyte Radeon RX 6700 XT 12G GPU
- Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX motherboard
The graphics card alone is designed for use with a 650 watt or higher power supply, so this is clearly not the kind of hardware you’d be able to pack into a typical MINISFORUM computer, which tend to be closer in size to Intel’s NUC line of 4.6″ x 4.4″ computers
Another advantage to the open frame design is that it should be relatively easy to perform your own upgrades or repairs. Most of the hardware is removable and replaceable.
Gigabyte’s motherboard supports 3rd-gen Ryzen desktop processors, up to 64GB of DDR4 memory (thanks to two SODIMM slots), and supports M.2 SSDs and SATA storage. It also has integrated support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and 7.1 channel audio.
Ports include:
- 2 x HDMI
- 1 x DisplayPort
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1 x RJ-45
- 3 x audio
There are no details on the size, configuration options, or other details. Those will likely be revealed closer to availability.

Very cool. Yes you may need to clean the fans more often. Yes that will be very easy with compressed air lol.
Kinda liking the aesthetic, but while the press shot looks insanely tidy, the other irl photos look like a hot mess as far as cable management.
Even on my last SFF build, which skewed heavily toward positive pressure (2x 120 + 140 intake vs 90 exhaust and fine filters everywhere), the inside of the case and components still got caked in dust. This would probably be alot easier to keep clean in the long run.
I’m not sure who in 2021 is being this careless about the safety and lifespan of their GPU. I have an older GTX 1070, and I’m bowing in the direction of Taiwan every morning in the hopes that it lasts long enough for the GPU market to recover.
Electrocution mini
Oh yeah it’s got a handle on it so you can take it through the airport as carry on baggage – and get arrested.
This is a great idea, but maybe the exposed fans are a bit loud. No mention of pricing. My guess is the price will be over $1k.
You know I was laughed at in college for my “pizza-box PC” that was literally my PC parts thrown in a pizza box, because who has money to spend on a case? Now I see these “open air designs” and I feel vindicated. I was not poor, I was in fact part of a revolution!
My pc currently. It’s just a box though. I like it better than cases tho. Parts are easily accessible. Nothing to unscrew
There’s been cases like these for quite a while, but mostly they’ve been for expensive art project PCs since they cost more than your typical ATX tower case.
This frame case will probably end up available for cheaper though, as scalpers will probably be buying them and selling the parts, especially the graphics card, for profit.
Provided minisforum doesn’t just sell the whole thing for $3500 anyway.
It’s modern art! 😉
If they can still pull a semi-budget price for this I’m definitely in. Thanks for sharing the details.
