Microsoft plans to launch Windows 10 for desktop, notebook and tablet computers this summer. Later this year the company will also release Windows 10 for phones… and according to several reports, Microsoft will launch at least two new phones that will ship with Windows 10 software.

The last few Microsoft Lumia smartphones have been entry-level and mid-range phones aimed at budget-conscious customers. But the next Lumia phones are said to be high-end devices with premium specs.

Unleash the Phones reports (and The Verge confirms) that we can expect to see two devices, code-named Cityman and Talkman, respectively.

If the reports are accurate, here’s what we can expect:

  • 5.7 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-core processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 20MP rear camera + 5MP front camera
  • 3300 mAh battery
  • Removable battery and a microSD card reader behind a removable rear cover
  • Support for Continuum for phones, allowing you to use the Cityman phone like a desktop

  • 5.2 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 6-core processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 20MP rear camera + 5MP front camera
  • 3000 mAh removable battery

Both phones are said to have a triple-LED flash and share a number of other specs, although the Talkman appears to be a smaller, thinner model with a different CPU. It’s also unclear if that model will support Continuum.

  1. If Cityman is real they better announce it soon. That spec sheet is sexy and I want to get away from Android if possible. With continuum shift and universal platform I can just port my android apps over and have everything I need to move.

  2. All I can say is pair continuum with Intel x7 for phones and I’ll bite. Would love to have a phone with the ability to run real desktop apps

  3. I have a Windows Phone. And it is a nice option for a low budget device because Windows Phone runs well on low spec hardware. But I don’t think Windows Phone has any shot at the higher end of the market unless they dual boot to Android. And even then, the Windows functionality would be marginalized.

Despite Windows Phone having a nice UI, there would need to be a huge influx of available apps before people even consider it- and that won’t be the case by later this summer.

  4. The Lumia name has no pull with smartphone buyers. It’s over. Microsoft should mothball the brand and instead make these two Windows 10 phones as premium smartphones under the Surface brand: Surface Phones.

  5. The average consumer might want a real Android phone.

MS is probably having a hard time trying to catch up with Android Mobile lately.

  6. They had both better have Glance, “Hey, Cortana” and wireless charging out of the box. It would be nice if they both supported micro SD and Continuum as well.

    1. As it’s unlikely they’ll make the new premium models worse than the current, glance, “hey, cortana”, and wireless charging are all likely to be featured, Continuum and micro-SD would make a lot of sense considering the newest announcements
