Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor is expected to bring a 10% boost in CPU and graphics performance and a 20% improvement in AI performance when compared with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while also lowing power consumption by as much as 30%. So it’s no surprise that a bunch of phone makers plan to use the new chip in flagship devices set to launch later this year.
One of those companies? OSOM Products, which was founded by a group of folks who used to work at Essential before that phone maker shut down. The company’s first phone is set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022 and we already know it’ll have a ceramic and metal body, and software that emphasizes privacy. Now we also know what kind of horsepower the phone will have, since it’s powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful smartphone chip to date.
Here’s a roundup of recent tech news from around the web.
