Intel may have recently launched a line of 55-watt Alder Lake-HX series processors designed to give laptops some of the power of a desktop PC. But PC maker XMG went ahead and put an actual desktop processor in its Apex 15 Max laptop, which can be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core, 32-thread chip running at 88 watts.

In other recent tech news from around the web, handheld maker GPD is inching closer to launching the GPD Win Max 2 mini-laptop/gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 6800U processor, and the CEO of AYA has confirmed that the upcoming AYA Neo Slide‘s display will be a 6 inch, 1080p screen that slides upward to reveal a keyboard.
Meanwhile, the developers of the Kodi media center application have released the first alpha build of Kodi 20, and Apple is said to be testing a foldable device that could use a color E Ink screen for its cover display. While that would certainly make Apple’s foldable stand out from existing models, it’s important to keep in mind that “testing” is a far cry from “planning to release.”
Apple is allegedly testing a foldable device that users a color E Ink screen for its cover display. I’m not holding my breath on this becoming a real thing, but it would be pretty slick to have the benefits of E Ink and OLED displays in one mobile device. https://t.co/QbykJz8beq
