Windows has long dominated the desktop and laptop computer space, but Microsoft has all-but given up on getting Windows onto smartphones. So the company has instead shifted its focus in an effort to get you to use its apps and services on your Android, iOS, or even Linux devices.

Heck, the company is even planning to launch its own Android-powered smartphone later this year.

So it’s no surprise that last year the company changed the name of its anti-malware software from Windows Defender to Microsoft Defender last year.

Now the company is taking the next logical steps and bringing Defender to other platforms. The company says a public preview of Microsoft Defender ATP (Advanced Threat Protection) is already available for Linux. And Microsoft Defender ATP is coming to Android and iOS soon.

  1. Someday in 2020 some die hard Microsoft fans worldwide found an alert notification on there computer and mobile phones, which states:

    Attention: HIGH ALERT!
A malicious file named “vmlinuz” have been detected by our (free/paid) Microsoft Spyware in your system, which is more dangerous than CoViD-19 or terrorists worldwide. Please permit US to remove the file and make yOUR “system” safe. To save the Mankind please forward this message at least to your 10 friends/foe.

PS: kindly replace “system” with business or ecosystem. BTB, Linus Torvald will not mind anything regarding this alert, he is so infatuated with M* (the next to L*).

  2. Microsoft antivirus on linux? No me. Microsoft will not get hooks into my computer. Especially not at that level.
