Some companies boast that their gadgets are waterproof. But what about ice-proof?
Last year PocketBook launced a water-resistant eReader called the PocketBook Aqua. A year later the folks at Vido decided to see just how sturdy this thing was… so they didn’t just get it wet. They froze it solid.
I first read about the experiment at The eBook Reader, but you can check out Vido’s website or video for more details.
Update: Looks like the Kobo Aura H20 waterproof eReader can survive a good freezing too.
Here’s a roundup of tech news from around the web.

The watch will sell for $595 and up and aims to display just the most important notifications. It doesn’t do as much as an Apple Watch or Android Wear Watch, but the makers are taking a less-is-more approach to smartwatches in everything but design. [The Verge] - Tivo’s new Android app supports streaming video even on rooted devices
The new app is also faster than the one it replaces, adds a few new features including OnePass and What to Watch… and rops support for older TiVo hardware. [Zatz Not Funny] - Jide’s Remix Ultra Tablet Kickstarter campaign just hit its $100k goal
Pledges slowed down a bit once the $39 and $199 reward levels were filled up. But the project did manage to hit its fundraising goal in less than 24 hours. Of course more important than the monetary goal is the community-building goal: Jide already has funding and hardware. What the company hopes to gain through crowdfunding are fans and beta testers. At this point the laptop is still in the concept stage. But you can find out more about that concept at the Xero Apparatus Wiki or by checking out the video below. [ARMDevices]
