Muzei is a Live Wallpaper app for Android designed to show artwork on your phone or tablet’s desktop. If you use the default settings the art will change every day, showing you some of the great works of famous artists.
But you can also use Muzei to grab photos from your phone or other sources — and because developer Roman Nurik created an API to let anyone create their own sources of artwork, a search for Muzei on the Play Store brings up a bunch of apps that let you view pictures from other sources.
One of my favorites is an app that automatically detects music playing on your device and grabs album art so that your wallpaper changes to match your music.
Here’s a roundup of tech news from around the web.
- Make your Android wallpaper match the album art for currently playing music with Muzei Music Extension
The app looks for album artwork on your device every time a new song begins. If it doesn’t find any, the app will check with Last.fm and download artwork. It should work with most music players that support AVRCP/Bluetooth controls. [r/android] - Asus VivoTab Note 8 Windows tablet + pen review
It’s tough to use an 8 inch Windows tablet as a traditional work PC because the screen’s a bit too small and sharp for use in laptop mode. But hold the tablet in your hands and use a pen to jot notes and you may have a winning combination on your hands. [UMPC Portal] - MiracleCast project could bring Miracast wireless display tech to Linux
OpenWFD is an open source project that’d let Linux users connect to external displays using Miracast wireless display technology. It’s still a work in progress. [Phoronix] - B&N retires the NOOK Simple Touch (still offers newer NOOK GlowLight)
It’s had a good run: Barnes & noble introduced this eReader way back in 2011. But at this point the company isn’t selling any eReaders that don’t have backlit or side-lit displays and it isn’t offering any new models that sell for $100 or less. [The Digital Reader] - Experimental version of the Chrome app launcher for Windows puts the launcher in center screen
It looks like Google’s thinking about widening the Chrome app launcher to 6 rows and putting it front and center… literally. [François Beaufort] - Yet another picture of the upcoming Nokia X “Normandy” Android phone
Everybody pretty much knows that Nokia’s first Android phone will be a budget device that’s nothing to write home about. But that hasn’t stopped leaked specs and pictures from showing up. [@evleaks]

Very nice app, love the plug-ins.
“In the Court of the Crimson King”
nice app, however it drains the battery too much.
