Nokia’s holding an event in Abu Dhabi later this month where the company is expected to introduce its first tablet, among other things.
While Nokia hasn’t officially unveiled the tablet yet, serial leaker @evleaks says it’ll come in black, white, red, and blue cyan colors, and he’s posted an image of the cyan model.
Previous leaks rumors suggest the tablet will run Windows RT, feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, support 4G LTE networks, and have a full HD display.
Here’s a roundup of tech news from around the web.
- If this is the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet, it looks (unsurprisingly) like a big Lumia smartphone
If you showed someone a bunch of Nokia Lumia smartphones and asked them what the company’s first Windows tablet would look like, it would probably look a lot like this… and maybe it is a fake, but @evleaks has a pretty good track record of posting reliable (and unofficial) info. [@evleaks] - Report: Google to drop Google TV brand, use Android TV instead
Google TV is based on Android and you can download apps for your TV from the Google Play Store. So why does it have a different name from the smartphone and tablet version of the software? Soon it may not… it’s not clear if the user interface will look more like the mobile version, but Google will reportedly also update its TV software to the latest version of Android soon. [GigaOm] - Looks like you can enter recovery mode on the latest HP, Acer Chromebooks by pressing Esc + Refresh + Power
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new chromebook with a physical switch that you can toggle to enter developer mode. But the latest models still let you enter recovery and developer modes pretty easily. Just use the same key combo implemented on other recent Chrome OS laptops. [Google] - Sony’s smartphone efforts aimed at Europe, Japan rather than US and China
That doesn’t mean Sony won’t be selling phones at all in the States… but don’t expect that shiny new Xperia Z1 f to show up on US shores anytime real soon. We’re kind of lower on the priority list these days. [Reuters] - This is how Valve’s Steam Controller dual-trackpad game controller works (video)
Valve wants to bring its Linux-based game and media-centric operating system to PCs that hang out in your living room. Part of the plan is to make it easier to play PC games without a mouse and keyboard, and the Steam Controller is an attempt at briding the divide between PC and console gaming. This is what it looks like when you use it. [Valve/YouTube]
That Steam controller demo looks quite good. Valve put that video out just at the right time. There’s lots of speculation about how the trackpads will do with various games. That’s a question pretty-much answered now thanks to the video.
I’m surprised that touchpad controller scheme isn’t covered by multiple overlapping frivolous patents from the likes of Apple and Microsoft.
Sony??? Typo fixed.
Looking foward to see what nokia is bringing. Its either this or surface 2.
Sony, Nokia who cares… This a Windows RT tablet 😉
Sorry Nokia,
People don’t want tablets with good taste,
People want tablets that taste good!
