Some phones cram as many cool features into a package as possible… but that can lead to expensive smartphones that are jacks of all trades, masters of none. LG is taking a different approach with its new X series smartphones.

The company is calling these phones “Specialist” devices, because each model has one special feature.

The first two X series phones are the X cam, and X screen.

LG X Cam

This phone has an 8MP front-facing camera for selfie-snapping, and dual cameras on the back: a 13MP camera and a second 5MP camera, which will probably allow you to take photos with adjustable depth.

Other features include a 5.2 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a 1.14 GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 2,520 mAh battery.

The LG X cam will ship with Android 6.0 software and the phone will be available in white, silver, gold, or ping gold colors.

LG X screen

This is likely the phone LG was teasing recently.

It has a 4.93 inch “HD” display, and a secondary 1.76 inch, “always-on” 520 x 80 pixel screen.

The “Second Screen” is above the primary display, allowing you to answer calls, view notifications, control music playback, or perform other activities even when the primary display is off.

It sounds a lot like the Second Screen available on the LG V10 smartphone, but the LG X Screen will likely carry a much lower price tag than that high-end handset.

Other features include a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2,300 mAh battery, Android 6.0, 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras, and black, white, and ping gold color options.
