Like the idea of using a projector instead of a big-screen TV, but don’t have a lot of space in your house or meeting room? No problem, there are “short throw” projectors that don’t need to be placed too far away from a wall… and the LG MiniBeam PF1000U has one of the shortest throw distances of all.
The company recently unveiled the projector in South Korea, where LG demonstrated the MiniBeam casting images up to 100 inches across from a distance of about 38 centimeters (or 15 inches).
The projector features a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a brightness of 1,000 lumens, and a 150,000:1 contrast ratio.
LG’s MiniBeam PF1000U is also fairly compact, weighing about 4.2 pounds.
The projector has built-in speakers, but it also supports Bluetooth if you want to pair it with external speakers. It also supports WiFi, Intel WiDi, and Miracast wireless display technology, allowing you to stream content from a phone, tablet or PC without wires.
Othe features include HDMI, VGA, USB, S/PDIF, AV, and audio jacks.
The LG MiniBeam PF1000U should be available in South Korea soon fro about $1350. There’s no word on if or when we’ll see this model in the US, Europe, or other regions.
