Lenovo LePad

The Lenovo LePad Android tablet isn’t even available outside of China yet, but the company is already starting to talk about its next-generation tablet. According to Lenovo CEO Yang Yuangqing, a new LePad will launch in September or October.

The new tablet will apparently be thinner than the original LePad, but there’s no information on the processor, operating system, or other specs.

I wouldn’t put too much faith in that September, October, time frame though. The original LePad was supposed to ship last year, but didn’t actually hit China until recently, and it will be a few months before it’s available in the US. Still, there’s a chance we could see a new LePad by the holidays… or at CES next January.

  1. as per the previous poster: wake me up when somebody get`s it right probably SAMSUNG maybe HP and challenges the i-pad…

  2. I’ve still been checking in from time to time but I will say this. It appear for me, that I stopped giving a shit about new tablet announcements about 3 months ago. Seriously, I’m getting nauseous. I guess it’s interesting for some, but I can’t imagine that anyone actually finds these announcements remotely interesting. From a news perspective there is lots to report but wow, who gives a shit? I really can’t imagine a less inspiring product to report on. I’ve said it before, sorry to repeat myself. I’ve probably said all the tablet stories is getting lame, but for some reason I need to repeat myself on it. New poll? Question: Do you really give a shit about 95% of the tablet announcements? I suppose there are 5 manufacturers that people care about. The rest? I think people might agree with me. I’m not knocking this site, but just the amount of tablet announcements for which you report on.

    1. New tablet announcements are indeed important and interesting. Not necessarily because of the devices that are the subject of the announcement but as a reflection of the state of the industry with regard to tablets.

I’m constantly amazed, though I shouldn’t be, at just how bumbling and stumbling most companies are in trying to get into the tablet market. A year after the iPad was released there are still only a handful of companies that are actually producing quality tablet devices.

What is also surprising is just how many of the big names are still not “in the (tablet) game”.
