Lenovo is expanding its line of gaming computers with two new desktop options and a new laptop.
While the new IdeaPad Y910 gaming laptop is arguably the most portable options, it’s really more of a desktop-replacement than the kind of notebook you’re likely to carry with you everywhere you go. The IdeaPad Y910 has a 17.3 inch display and weighs over 10 pounds. But under the hood it has an Intel Core i7 K series processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics, and up to 64GB of RAM.
But I’m intrigued by Lenovo’s new desktops: the relatively small IdeaCentre Y710 Cube and the new IdeaCentre AIO Y910.
The Lenovo IdeaCentre Y710 Cube is a desktop PC with support for up to a Core i7 Skylake chip, up to GTX 1080 graphics, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of hard drive storage or up to 256GB if you choose the SSD option.
The IdeaCentre Y710 Cube isn’t exactly tiny by Intel NUC standards, but at about 16 pounds, it’ relatively portable for a heavy-duty gaming laptop.
Lenovo’s IdeaCentre AIO Y910 is also interesting, since it stuffs all the important hardware behind a 27 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, which means it takes up a lot less space than a typical gaming PC setup.
Like the Y710 Cube, the all-in-one desktop is available with up to a Core i7 Skylake CPU, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of SSD or 2TB of HDD storage. But Lenovo will offer a choice of NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards for this model.
Other features include stereo 5W Harman Kardon speakers and a 144 Hz screen refresh rate with 5ms response time.
The all-in-one desktop should be available in October for $1800 and up, while the IdeaCentre Y710 Cube desktop is coming in October for $1300 and up.
I haven’t seen US pricing details for the IdeaPad Y910 gaming laptop yet, but it’s expected to launch in Europe in November for €2799 ($3150)
